Tough time for art dealers! Court plea to escape car ban

A MAYFAIR art gallery owner caught speeding in his £200,000 Bentley has tried to swerve a driving ban, telling a court: “It’s a tough time to be an art dealer.”

Tim Jefferies, 63, was caught doing 25mph in a 20mph zone in West London in February.

He already had nine points on his licence and was facing the automatic six-month ban.

But he claimed a ban would cause “exceptional hardship”, saying he needed his car to drive his art around, to ferry his children to school and visit his mum in a care home.
