Toasted to perfection

There is a proper way to do it, with more than half of us admitting we are fussy about our toast.

A survey reveals the formula for the perfect slice: it has to be made from white bread, cooked to a golden colour, cut into rectangles, and served warm, but not too hot.

More than a fifth (22%) go as far as saying the way someone likes their toast can reflect deeper things about their personality.

Just 8% like their slices "well done" with a deeply browned finish, while 15% would opt for a lightly toasted effort.
