Tesco and Sainsbury's will reveal festive performance

TESCO and Sainsbury's are expected to reveal this week that they did well over Christmas - despite pressure on shoppers' budgets.

The UK's biggest supermarket groups will both provide third-quarter updates for investors and analysts, where they will reveal sales for the weeks up to the festive period.

Both grocers are expected to announce another strong run of growth as recent investments in price cuts continue to pay dividends and win them more shoppers.

However, the updates also come as a raft of cost increases linked to the autumn Budget cast a shadow over profitability for 2025.

Tesco, the UK's largest bricks-andmortar retailer, will update its shareholders on Thursday.
