Steve Wright 'was offered his old afternoon slot back'

STEVE Wright was asked to return to his afternoon slot on Radio 2 shortly before his death, a friend has claimed.
The veteran DJ also had a heart op in recent months, said Mark Wells, a former controller of ITV's entertainment shows.
Radio 2 bosses gave Steve's afternoon slot to Scott Mills in 2022, leaving Wrighty with just his Sunday Love Songs programme.

But Mark told a podcast: "This is absolutely the truth and the BBC will deny this but this is what Steve said to me last Friday.
