But it took a fluke and a penalty softer than a crash-landing on a pillow for Tottenham to burgle their luckiest point of the season.

In the week when they will need to go through the alphabet of virtues from A to Z to survive in the Europa League against AZ Alkmaar, Spurs put head coach Ange Postecoglou through the gamut of emotions, from despair — with his players deservedly booed off at the interval — to the relief of an undeserved draw.
