Southport girls' bravery praised at inquiry

THE girls attacked in the Southport stabbings displayed a “level of bravery no child should ever need to show”, a public inquiry has heard.

During the horrific attack by Axel Rudakubana at a dance class last year, children protected each other from the onslaught.

Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were killed in the atrocity as Rudakubana, 18, also attempted to murder eight other children and two adults.

Giving impact evidence to the Southport Inquiry at Liverpool Town Hall yesterday, one mother told of how her eldest daughter protected her younger sister during the attack on July 29 last year.
