Snapchat killer driver is jailed

A TRACTOR driver who killed a woman and seriously injured her son while they were cycling after being distracted by Snapchat has been jailed for eight years.

Jonathan Sumner, 33, was at the wheel of an 11-ton farm vehicle when he struck Helen Wickham, 53, and her 19-year-old.

The pair had been cycling along the A54 near Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, when the tragedy unfolded in 2020.

Helen died at the scene while her son suffered severe leg injuries and needed hospital surgery.

Sumner told police he had not seen the cyclists ahead of him and realised what had happened only when he felt the field roller he was towing move.
