October 30, 2025

STEVE SMITH warmed up for the Ashes with 118 for New South Wales in his first innings for two months.

Smith had not played since his stint in The Hundred for Welsh Fire, where his top score was 47 not out.

Now back in Australia and confirmed as captain for the first Ashes Test due to Pat Cummins’ injury issues, the star middle-order batter used his first red-ball innings since July to get valuable time at the crease.
