Site sees first beaver births in 400 years

BEAVERS Beryl and Bertie have been busy since they were released into the wild — they’ve been restoring the landscape and had a historic baby.

The new parents, who were named in a competition, were freed at Old River Bed, Shropshire, in February in a five-year experiment to see their impact on the wetland.

Their baby, called a kit, has now been spotted on camera footage, surprising conservationists reintroducing Eurasian beavers to the wild and giving cause for celebration.
