Rwanda flight migrants will be detained at routine checks

ILLEGAL migrants earmarked for the first deportation flight to Rwanda will be detained when they turn up at routine check-ins with officials.

The Home Office has started the next phase of its plan to make the deterrent a reality after laws were passed last week.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has promised the first flights will take off by mid-July - but documents seen by the Daily Express suggest that it could be sooner.

The Home Office said yesterday that at some stage preparations would "inevitably" include detaining people, adding: "It would be inappropriate to comment further on operational activity."
