Rayner 'quit threats' over housing target

ANGELA Rayner has repeatedly threatened to resign from the Government over Labour's “impossible” pledge to build 1.5 million homes, it is claimed.

A new biography of Sir Keir Starmer by Lord Ashcroft says that Deputy PM Ms Rayner was only persuaded not to quit by a last-minute intervention by former Labour Premier Sir Tony Blair. Ms Rayner, who is also Housing Secretary, is said to believe Labour's policy will not be achieved and should not have been promised to voters.

She is said to be angered by losing out on Dorneywood, the 21-room grace-and-favour mansion in Buckinghamshire, which was given to Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
