Push to lift 'ban' on critics of Islam

A “BLASPHEMY law” threat to free speech should be scrapped, MPs will be told today.
Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick is backing legislation to stop police and courts effectively banning criticism of religion.
Conservative MP and former Theresa May aide Nick Timothy will present a Bill today to “restore our freedom of speech - and our right to criticise all religions, including Islam”.
Blasphemy was decriminalised in 2008 but Mr Timothy says authorities are using other laws to safeguard Islam from opponents.
