Pro-Russia hackers trigger cyber attack on council websites

PRO-RUSSIA hackers seeking revenge for Britain's support for Ukraine have caused council websites to crash.
Salford and Tameside authorities in Greater Manchester were both down for much of yesterday after the group called Noname05716 allegedly targeted them with a distributed denial-of-service attack.
During such crimes, hackers bombard websites with traffic, causing them to crash or slow dramatically.
The pro-Kremlin group, which was formed in 2022 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, also claimed on X to have taken down Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Bury, Trafford and Dudley's websites. However, when they were tested by the Daily Express, only Hemel Hempstead's had crashed.
