Poor areas to benefit from £2bn saved by NHS

OVER £2billion saved from “wasteful” NHS spending is to be diverted to help boost care provision in “working-class communities that need it most”, Wes Streeting says.

The Health Secretary will use a speech in Blackpool today to set out how less well-off areas will benefit from a bigger share of GP funding and other benefits.

He said NHS leaders have spent recent months enacting cuts, such as “back office” functions, while reducing forecast deficits by its trusts.
