PM storm as he says occupying Gaza 'will bring more bloodshed'
Daily Express
|August 09, 2025
SIR Keir Starmer has stepped up criticism of Israel by denouncing its plans to occupy part of Gaza as “wrong” and likely to “bring more bloodshed”.
But the Prime Minister's comments have prompted a furious response from the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee.
He posted on X that if Sir Keir had led Britain during the rise of the Nazis, “then UK would be speaking German!”
US vice president JD Vance, who is in Britain for a family holiday, ruled out following Sir Keir’s lead and recognising a Palestinian state.
But during a meeting with Foreign Secretary David Lammy, he said Donald Trump wants to work with allies to end “the humanitarian crisis in Gaza”.
Earlier this week Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said his country will take over the whole of Gaza before handing control to friendly Arab nations.
