‘Armed raid mastermind’ on trial 19 years after shooting
THE alleged mastermind of an armed robbery in which a police officer was killed and another badly injured is being tried almost two decades later.
The ambush happened after PCs Sharon Beshenivsky and Teresa Milburn were called to Universal Express travel agents in Bradford.
Prosecutor Robert Smith KC said they were shot at almost point-blank range by one of three robbers, killing PC Beshenivsky.
The gunman in November 2005 "fired indiscriminately" as he fled the scene before getting into a nearby car.
