Patients lack faith in NHS handling of complaints

A LACK of confidence in the NHS complaints process means many people do nothing when they suffer poor care, says the patient champion.

And there is little evidence criticism sparks improvements, Healthwatch England said.

It comes as a poll showed more than half of those who complained to an NHS organisation were not satisfied with the process or outcome.

There were 241,922 written complaints in the NHS in 2023/24, up 5.4% on the previous 12 months.
