Marlie helping to fill void left by injury to captain

- By Adam Hathaway

MARLIE PACKER revealed England have moved quickly to fill the hole left by skipper Zoe Aldcroft’s knee injury that could sideline her for the rest of the World Cup pool stage.

Aldcroft, below, played 62 minutes of last Friday’s opening 69-7 win against the USA but has been ruled out of tomorrow’s clash with Samoa and almost certainly the game with Australia a week later.

World Cup-winning centre Emily Scarratt, who came off the bench against the Americans, is also out of this weekend’s game in Northampton with a shoulder injury.

Fly-half Holly Aitchison is still missing with her ankle problem.
