RACHEL Reeves was warned about pre-Budget briefings giving a false impression about the state of the nation's finances, MPs have been told.

The astonishing number of Treasury leaks about the contents of the Chancellor's financial statement last week "exacerbated" market uncertainty, said Prof David Miles of the Office for Budget Responsibility.
