Ruling says NHS trust DID harass them over trans row
Darlington nurses talk to media after tribunal win
A GROUP of nurses are celebrating a “victory for common sense” after winning a landmark legal battle against the NHS trust that made them share a changing room with a male colleague.
An employment tribunal yesterday ruled they were victims of harassment and sex discrimination after County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust allowed a biological male trans woman to undress in front them.
Its policy of allowing men into women’s spaces is unlawful and violates the rights of its female staff, the court found.
Bethany Hutchison, 36, who led the historic challenge, said: “This is a victory for common sense and for every woman who simply wants to feel safe at work.”
The mum of two added: “Women deserve access to single-sex spaces without fear or intimidation.
