Nodding off in Zzzoom meetings

YAWNING through your Zoom meetings? It's not your fault it's the format, a study reveals.

It was previously thought that sleepiness in virtual meetings was down to fatigue caused by stress and mental overload.

But research from a Finnish university shows the real reason is we just don't feel engaged.

The team concluded that face-to-face meetings have vastly more stimuli to keep us alert.

Study leader Assistant Professor Niina Nurmi of Aalto University said: "I expected to find that people get stressed in remote meetings.

"But the result was the opposite- those not engaged in their work quickly became drowsy.
