Night skies aurora inspiring

AN incredible light show brightens the early autumn night sky as the Northern Lights make a rare summer appearance across many parts of the British Isles.

Sightings reported on Monday night included some in North East Scotland, the Midlands and northern England.

The display could even be seen as far south as West Cork on the southern tip of Ireland, and there were hopes of a return to some areas last night.
