Boss Arteta pleased with Gyokeres in Emirates bow

MIKEL ARTETA insists Viktor Gyokeres will be “100 percent” ready to kick-start Arsenal’s Premier League campaign with a bang.

The Swede got stuck in on his first Emirates outing as the Gunners were beaten at home by Villarreal in their penultimate preseason fixture.

Former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe scored the Spanish side’s opener.

Gyokeres could not find the net and was substituted after an hour, but looked the part and Arteta has no doubts he will be in a position to hit the ground running, starting with their first game at Manchester United a week on Sunday.

The Gunners manager said of his marquee £63.7million summer capture from Sporting Lisbon: “Mentally and understanding what he needs to do, he’ll be 100 percent or more because he’s so willing.
