A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a mother of two was found stabbed inside a house following a gas explosion.

- By Paul Jeeves Crime Editor

Forty firefighters were called to the home after its windows were shattered by a devastating blast that neighbours said was like a huge glass cabinet dropped from a great height.

Emergency crews, who were alerted just before 5am yesterday, discovered fatally injured charity worker Annabel Rook, 46, inside the three-bedroom Victorian house in Stoke Newington, North East London.

Despite paramedics’ attempts to resuscitate her, Ms Rook was declared dead at the scene. A 46-year-old man, who police said had “slash” wounds, was arrested moments later. He was being questioned by murder squad detectives last night.
