Mother of US school shooter faces 60 years' jail

THE mother of a US teenager who killed four children in a school shooting faces up to 60 years in jail in a landmark conviction.
Jennifer Crumbley's involuntary manslaughter verdict is the first time the US courts have pinned criminal responsibility on the parents of child killers.
Prosecutors said Crumbley was grossly negligent and could have foreseen the violence before her son Ethan, 15, opened fire at his Michigan high school, killing four pupils. The teenager is serving a life sentence for murder and terrorism.
His mother, 45, now faces up to 15 years in jail for each of the four manslaughter counts. She will be sentenced on April 9.
Father James Crumbley, 47, will be tried next month on the same involuntary manslaughter charges.
