MICHAEL OWEN says people who think Manchester United's problems are down to Ruben Amorim's back-three formation are "embarrassing".

And the former Old Trafford striker also claims that club legends, such as Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney, often criticising Amorim's tactics are likely to be getting inside players' heads and making them question the head coach.

Owen (above) has seen the decline since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, with a managerial revolving door and big signings falling flat and being skewered by former players as well as fans.
