Millions suffering a 'personal recession'

MILLIONS of struggling householders are enduring a "personal recession" due to Labour's mishandling of the economy, experts have warned.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves have insisted the Government should be judged on raising living standards.

However, the latest figures show economic growth per person has shrunk in the past six months since the general election.

They reveal gross domestic product per head fell by 0.3% between July and September, then by a further 0.1% in October to December.

Meanwhile, the economy has flatlined while net migration levels continue to surge.

The gloomy assessment comes as official data showed the economy grew unexpectedly in the final quarter of last year.

GDP increased by 0.1% between October and December - barely detectable but significantly better than the 0.1% contraction analysts had pencilled in.
