Michael Schumacher 'driven in fast Mercedes to stimulate brain'

MICHAEL Schumacher was reportedly driven in a high-performance car after his life-changing skiing accident in the hope the familiar experience would stimulate his brain.

Rare details of his rehabilitation were revealed by the German tabloid Bild ahead of today's 10-year anniversary of his off-piste crash in the French Alps.

The seven-time Formula One world champion, 54, has not been seen in public since the incident left him in a coma for 250 days.

He is now cared for around the clock by a team of up to 15 doctors, masseurs, and assistants, according to reports.

Schumacher was said to have been driven in a Mercedes AMG car and, had sounds from the F1 track played to him in the hope the movement and audio would prompt a reaction from his brain. The racing legend competed for Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari, and Mercedes during his career.
