Met rapist told one victim nobody would believe her as he was a police officer

A FORMER Metropolitan police officer who has been convicted of multiple counts of rape told one victim she would never be believed if she reported him as he was a serving officer.

Cliff Mitchell, 24, has been found guilty of 10 counts of rape, three counts of rape of a child under 13, one count of kidnap and breach of a non-molestation order following a trial at Croydon Crown Court.

He was charged with kidnap after last September tying up a woman with cable ties and taping over her mouth before forcing her and another person into his car.

She only escaped the vehicle by saying she felt sick and was later seen running through traffic before a female passer-by offered her a lift. She called 999 from her rescuer's car and told the operator "he's kidnapped me" and "he's behind us".
