Met chief's apology to TV star Selina after robbery ordeal failings by police

THE head of the Metropolitan Police has apologised to veteran TV presenter Selina Scott after she told him she could not get help when she was attacked and robbed.
The former breakfast TV host and news anchor, 74, claimed the streets of London were unsafe after she was mugged by a gang near Piccadilly’s Waterstones bookstore, in one of the busiest areas of the capital.
The group surrounded her, hit her on the back of her leg, stole her purse and “sauntered off”.
Distraught Selina could not find an officer to help — nearby West End Central police station was closed four years ago.
