Heart problem forces decision
LANGER DAN has been retired from racing with immediate effect after the two-time Coral Cup hero fell victim to “an intrinsic and unexplainable heart problem.”
The Dan Skelton-trained nine-year-old chased home Galopin Des Champs in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Hurdle at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival and was brought down at the second flight when the 7-2 favourite for the same race, won by Banbridge, 12 months later.
