MUCH is being made of the Princess of Wales, below, being confined to hospital for a fortnight, which these days is as rare as hens' teeth following an operation, but once it was the norm as it was for me in 1963 when I was rushed from school one night with appendicitis.
The ambulance took me away with bells ringing (sirens came in a decade later) and my friends all looking out from the dormitory windows.
