DOCTORS who released Valdo Calocane into the community to kill three people must be named over their "catastrophic failures", the victims' families have demanded.

Individuals must be held responsible'

They say if the identity of the medics responsible for his care remain secret then "vital change can never happen".

The families have requested a meeting with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and want him to instruct Health Secretary Wes Streeting to implement a full statutory public inquiry.

A catalogue of devastating failings in Calocane's mental health treatment were exposed by a damning independent review published yesterday.

It included his refusal to take medication as he "did not like needles". He went on to stab university students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, both 19, and school caretaker Ian Coates, 65, to death in a knife rampage in Nottingham in June 2023.

Barnaby's mum Emma Webber said evidence of the chronic mistakes in dealing with her son's killer, who was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, would have been "brushed under the carpet" had it not been for their campaign.

She said: "It's time now that we get the opportunity to meet with the Prime Minister.

"None of us should be here today. Anything and everything that could go wrong did.

"Barnaby, Ian and Grace would be here if those concerned across these agencies had just done their job properly."
