Iceman rocked as Doors legend

FROM donning the famous black cape to play Batman to the iconic Doors frontman, to roles in Top Gun and Tombstone, Val Kilmer starred in some of the biggest films of the 1980s and 90s.

An incredibly versatile actor, he was seen as both underrated and sometimes difficult to work with. Kilmer grew up in a middle-class family in Los Angeles. His parents were Christian Scientists, a movement to which he would adhere to all his life.

Aged 17, he became the then-youngest pupil to enrol at the Juilliard School in New York, one of the world’s most prestigious drama schools.
