King’s urges people to get screened

official update on his health in nine months. After Charles’s initial diagnosis at the start of last year following a routine prostate procedure, he postponed his public duties for just shy of three months for a period of treatment and recuperation.

Since resuming royal duties he has kept a busy schedule of engagements including foreign trips, ceremonial events and day-to-day engagements up and down the country.

He spent a short time in hospital in March after experiencing temporary side effects during his regular cancer treatment, which royal sources played down as a “minor bump in the road”.

Ten days later, he travelled to Italy with the Queen for a busy four-day state visit.

That was the last time the Palace issued an update on the King’s health.
