'I don't want my family's last memory of me to be of suffering and pain'
Daily Express
|February 16, 2024
DAME Esther Rantzen does not want her family's last memory of her to be "painful" as she seeks an assisted dying law change.
The campaigner, who has terminal cancer, has reignited her push for a change in the law by urging others to come forward and share their deeply personal testimonies.
She hopes this will finally break the wall of silence from MPs on the issue.
Speaking to Nick Ferrari during an LBC interview to be broadcast on Monday, she said: "You don't have to be in the last stages of a terminal illness if your suffering is so intense that your life is unbearable.
"As we know, in some neurological disorders you can become so paralysed all you can do is really breathe and all you want to do is stop, and stop now.
