Horror as terrified sick children are pulled from rubble of cancer hospital
Daily Express
|July 09, 2024
RUSSIA launched a bloody series of "genocidal" hypersonic missile attacks across Ukraine yesterday - in a barrage that obliterated a children's cancer hospital and left at least 33 people dead.
A world-renowned fertility clinic was also hit in the capital of Kyiv, killing another seven people.
Just hours after the UK's new Defence Secretary John Healey pledged fresh military aid on a trip to Odesa, Kremlin forces again went on the offensive.
Vladimir Putin's military launched "one of the worst missile attacks of the war", Ukrainian authorities said, striking a number of civilian targets.Onslaught
During a prolonged and rare daylight onslaught, Russia used advanced Kinzhal missiles to pound an array of targets.
This sparked numerous explosions that claimed the lives of dozens of civilians in multiple cities.
The attacks were first felt in Kyiv, with falling debris igniting sprawling fires in several districts.
In one of the worst atrocities of the conflict, the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in the capital the largest facility in the country - was all but destroyed, killing at least five. Haunting pictures showing bloodied and terrified sick children being pulled from the rubble.
Among the dead at the hospital was Svitlana Lukyanchik, 30, a paediatric kidney doctor. She was an orphan from Lviv who became a leader in her field.
