TENS of thousands of people will be offered an NHS heart health MoT at work in a drive to boost the take-up of the lifesaving checks.
More than 130,000 over-40s will be invited to have their height, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol measured to find those who are at high risk of heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and stroke.
Some 16 million are eligible for the NHS Health Check but officials are concerned that only 40% take up the offer. Men are less likely to accept despite being more prone to developing cardiovascular disease at an earlier age. It is hoped hundreds of lives will be saved by taking the checks into workplaces.
