Brook leads the charge as England blow Kiwis away

HARRY BROOK turned on the afterburners to steer England to a dominant seven-wicket win over New Zealand as befits the world champions.

In their first T20 match on home soil since claiming the crown at the MCG in November, England produced a clinical display in front of a sell-out crowd in Durham.

And it was that man Brook who continued to make batting look like the easiest thing in the world with a rollicking 43 from 27 balls.

With Dawid Malan (54) adding another England fifty, there was never any doubt they would overhaul New Zealand's modest 139-9 down by the Riverside.

But they walloped the Kiwis with 36 balls to spare.

Brook and Malan were involved in England's World Cup campaign last winter.

However, as things stand just one of them will be a part of the next one in October.
