Demi's joy at 'first time ever' Golden Globes win

DEMI Moore gave an impassioned speech as she won the first major acting award of her long Hollywood career at the Golden Globes.

The actress, 62, revealed she had been brushed off as a "popcorn actress" by a movie executive in the 1990s. Demi said she was "at kind of a low point" before landing her role in The Substance for which she scooped the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy. The win now makes her a frontrunner for the Oscars in March.

Accepting the award Sunday night's ceremony in Los Angeles, the Ghost and Indecent Proposal star said: "Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress. At that time, I made that mean that this wasn't something that I was allowed to have, that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn't be acknowledged.
