French polish would also work for Britain

ANYONE standing on a street corner telling the world that everything in this country is going just fine would be gently escorted away by two kindly men in white coats and into a waiting ambulance.

French polish would also work for Britain

The reason is simple; we all know it is the exact opposite. Everything both in the public sector and those areas in private hands is visibly an absolute mess. But why?

There is a single word in our brilliant language - about one treasure we still have that explains it all. A long, clumsy word but a complete explanation.

That word is maladministration. And there lies a second mystery. Getting on a bit I may be, but I recall when the way we organised and ran things was a world standard for smooth efficiency.

So what on earth has gone wrong?

We can see at a glance that our once world-envied National Health Service, role-model for all the others which now outstrip us in speedy efficiency and medical outcomes, is a mess. Not because of our poor doctors, surgeons and nurses but due to useless form-choked bureaucracy. Our economy is a joke and our once-revered Bank of England a laugh - or it would be if anyone was laughing.
