Five-year parking row victory...over £1 ticket!
Daily Express
|August 21, 2025
DOGGED driver Nigel Richardson has won his five-year fight with a major parking firm over a £1 ticket.
He took on Euro Car Parks after being relentlessly pursued for the charge — which he had already paid.
Nigel, 71, parked his VW Golf in Syston, Leics but did not have any change and the site’s card payment machines were not working.
He tried using a phone app but did not receive a notification that his payment had been successful.
Proof
So he wrote to the firm to explain what happened, saying he might owe a pound — but bosses fined him £100.
He later found a receipt for his online fee and thought proof of payment would end the issue but for four years debt collectors threatened court action while the penalty rose to £230.
Nigel refused to give way and represented himself at Leicester County Court where he was awarded £200 in compensation by a judge who said he was unfairly fined and owed nothing.
