Fishing deal 'rewards slaughter of dolphins'
Daily Express
|March 25, 2025
THE butchering of dolphins is being rewarded by ministers who have cut a £5million fishing deal with the Faroe Islands, say conservationists.
British fishermen have been given rights to a 2,000-ton catch including 880 tons of cod and haddock in Faroese waters, around 200 miles north of Scotland.
But the self-governing archipelago remains a whaling nation and dolphins are seen as fair game, driven into shallow bays and slaughtered with lances and knives. Hundreds die each year for their meat.
