Awesome relay team get back to where they belong

- Mike Walters

FAB FOUR RECORD A SPLASH HIT

THEY are the aquatic Fab Four - the John, Paul, George and Ringo of the pool.

And as Team GB's relay brotherhood retained their 4x200m freestyle Olympic relay title in La Defense Arena, it was just like Tokyo three years ago.

Get back to where you once belonged, fellas.

Let's hear it for James Guy, Tom Dean, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott, the new kings of Pool Britannia. If their winning time of 6mins 59.43secs was a tad slower than the 6:58.58 which did the trick in Japan, nobody cared two hoots.

They landed Britain's first swimming gold in the pool of Paris 2024, and they did it in style, seeing off the United States and Australia's yellow submarine with a superb, measured swim where they led from hooter to touch pad.

When Leon Marchand, darling of home crowds at Paris 2024, is on the bill - as he was twice last night - the din is tremendous.
