Edwards a 'villain living a double life' says BBC boss as ex-star told to repay £200k

BBC bosses have demanded Huw Edwards pays back £200,000 of his salary after the disgraced newscaster's child abuse images shame.

The corporation has accused the 62-year-old of continuing to accept public money after his arrest, despite knowing "what he had done".

In an email to colleagues, BBC chairman Samir Shah said: "It was a shock to discover that Huw Edwards was living a double life.

"Let me be clear: the villain of this piece is Huw Edwards; the victims are those children for whose degradation Huw Edwards provided a market for." He added: "Tim Davie [BBC director-general] and his team approached every key decision in good faith; Mr Edwards behaved in bad faith.
