Dying are left in severe pain warns charity

A THIRD of dying people were severely or overwhelmingly affected by pain in the last week of their life, according to a major survey.

Half of the bereaved respondents were unhappy with at least one aspect of the care their dying loved one received.

Of those, one in eight officially complained, said charity Marie Curie's study of 1,179 mourners in England and Wales.

Chief executive Matthew Reed said: "We are shocked to see dying people struggling with pain.
