Crooked officer is jailed for cash scam

A HOME Office immigration officer who ran an asylum scam in return for thousands of pounds has been jailed for more than four years.

Imran Mulla, 39, used his position to overturn a refused asylum claim made by a migrant.

He was caught after he phoned another migrant asking for cash - who told his solicitor.

Bangladeshi Nural Amin Begh, 23, who paid Mulla to grant his asylum application, was jailed for 18 months.
