UK pins dart frog poisoning of Putin critic on Kremlin

FOREIGN Secretary Yvette Cooper has threatened Russia with new sanctions over the dart frog poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Britain and its allies have blamed the Kremlin after the vocal critic of tyrant Vladimir Putin died in a Siberian prison two years ago today.

The poisoning from a deadly toxin found in the skin of Ecuadorian dart frogs was discovered in tests on samples taken from Mr Navalny's body.

Russia has denied any involvement in his death, but Ms Cooper said: “We continue to look at coordinated action, including increasing sanctions on the Russian regime.

“We have been pursuing this as part of our response to the brutal invasion of Ukraine.

“We believe that it is the partnerships that we build abroad that make us stronger at home.
