Clare Balding: Late Queen was excellent at horse whispering

CLARE Balding has revealed the late Queen learned to be a skilled horse whisperer and also told how the royal loved the "naughtiness" of the racing world.

The TV presenter said even late in her life the monarch would bravely handle temperamental young horses after learning to communicate through body language.

And she revealed that since becoming King, Charles has for the first time experienced the thrill of horse racing.

Clare, who first met the Queen as a young child and learned to ride on a Shetland pony gifted by the royal, said: "I was doing a documentary on the Queen and horses, and I went to watch the yearlings up at Polhampton [the Queen's stud farm in Hampshire].
