LOCAL hero Dan Burn sounded Newcastle's battle cry for next season when he declared: "Bring on Real Madrid, Barcelona and... Sunderland!

The Toon defender has enjoyed the best campaign of his career, but he is already counting down the days until his team are back in Champions League action.

And Burn cannot wait for the Tyne-Wear derby to resume in the top-flight after a nine-year wait.

He said: "I want to play against the best teams, so I'd love to play Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"That's why you want Champions League football - it will be exciting.

"And it'll be good even to see Sunderland getting back in the Premier League.

"It's such a weird thing because I'm really excited about that, too.
